As we roll into June, it’s time to start rolling out those grills and dusting the cobwebs off your grilling utensils. In order to truly appreciate summer, a good outdoor BBQ day is essential. Having friends over, enjoying some refreshing cocktails, and eating some fantastic BBQ is what makes for unforgettable days. In order to ensure that you’re doing it right, we’re sharing some of our favorite grilling/BBQ tips.

Here’s How to Make the Most Out of Your BBQ Day

  • Light the barbecue before the guests arrive

◦     No one wants to wait hours for the grill to heat up and the food to cook, so make sure you’re grill is hot and ready to go by the time they arrive.

  • Have everything ready to go

◦     This means anything from marinating the meat beforehand, preparing and cutting the veggies, set up the drinks on ice, and have the tables laid out.

  • Stay organized at the BBQ station

◦     The last thing you want to do is grab the tongs for uncooked meat when you grabbed the veggies, salmonella is not a good time.

  • Keep it simple with seasonings

◦     While we never recommend not using salt and pepper, make sure you don’t overdo it with a bunch of different barbecue seasonings

◦     To repeat: make sure to use salt and pepper liberally, just not 20 different spices!

  • Let the meet take a nap (aka rest)

◦     One common mistake people make when grilling is right after they take the meat off the grill, they immediately try to cut all the food. Do NOT do this, in fact, let the meat rest for at least 5-10 minutes before cutting. This will ensure that you’re getting all the flavor and juices trapped inside.
